Yes, that is the fact. And that is one of the reasons I'd like to have
the new swig in Debian as the old libswig* were really only for one
version of swig and won't work with the next release. So the solution
would have been swig packages named swig1.3.23, swig1.3.24 and the 
corresponding library packages, a real maintenance night mare if you ask
me.

The new swig1.3.24 will kick the libswig packages out of the archive and
therefore will break anything linking against it, currently the svn 
stuff and python-hid, pythin-phidgets.

Make that swig >= 1.3.24. Newer swig versions should be fine as long as 
you don't mix with older runtimes.
