Would it be easy enough to reject messages that are too big during the incoming smtp session?
This would avoid bothering any forged senders or the list and seems the right behaviour anyway.
A cursory look at rfc3463 suggests these error codes: 523 Message length exceeds administrative limit 534 Message too big for system
