List of supported converters from upstream README.md: markdown | libtext-multimarkdown-perl | pandoc Also available in Debian: discount | python3-markdown Also from the README `markdown-command` - the command used to run Markdown (default: `markdown`) Given that markdown-mode is configured upstream to use "bin:markdown", it seems more reasonable (and easy!) to just Recommends markdown, and then add a list of alternatives to Suggests. This way it works out of the box, and the user can consult Suggests when interpreting the upstream README.md. One thing I'm not sure about is if "discount | python3-markdown" should be included in the list of Suggests... They both claim to pass the Markdown 1.0 test suite, and including these alternatives seems like a good-neighbourly thing to, so I'm leaning towards including them. Cheers, Nicholas
