I tried to print, but got a mostly blank document. All I got was table lines. Apparently, a font direcotry is off limits for me: ls -l /var/cache/fonts/pk/esphi/jknappen/ec/ -d drwxrwsr-t 2 root users 4096 2005-12-07 23:08 I am not in the group "users", the group exists on the system but is empty. I can of course add people to the group, but I think adding _everyone_ to some group is useless. It is then better to chmod o+rw on that directory, which is my suggested fix. Latex must be available for every user.
