Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

In recent weeks I have had problems playing videos on youtube and certain gifs
and videos on other sites. After booting, everything works normally, and after
some time the problem recurs. Youtube videos will get stucking while loading
until a message appears "if playback doesn't start shortly, restart your
device." Other videos (e.g. https://imgur.com/bZ2Uy4W) will display exactly two
frames and then freeze. If a progress bar is available (as on facebook) I'm
then able to click to an arbitrary point in the video, which will cause more of
the video to buffer and will display the corresponding freeze frame, but the
video never actually plays. This occurs in all browsers (firefox, chrome, and
torbrowser).

What I've tried: I disabled hardware acceleration in all browsers; this did not
help. I've disabled all addons in all browsers and started them in safe mode;
this does not help after the problem has started. Restarting browsers does not
help. I have a hybrid discrete and integrated graphics card and have
blacklisted the driver for the discrete card (nouveau) - lsmod shows that
nouveau drivers are not loaded anymore, but the problem recurred as usual. If I
restart lightdm it *does* fix the problem, temporarily. Rebooting fixes the
problem temporarily.

I'm not sure how to proceed to isolate the problem.

Thanks,
Vera
