Some time ago we started a discussion on a new enahnced format for the disk_config files. The new format should support raid and lvm.
I think it's important to first enhance the disk_config file format and then to rewrite the partitioning tool (a plan since many years ;-) But since some people like to have raid and lvm just now, I will have a look at your patch.
