Ah, the problem is that they are out-of-date, because nvi upstream is
(effectively) dead. And the reason to do the update automatically rather
than once is to avoid a large diff.gz, if I remember the discussion on
this correctly (now that you've jogged my memory.)

Okay, I'll check the result, and do one or the other (update diff.gz, or
add auto update).
