Is that the only error message from udev? Have you tried running udev with udev debug logging enabled (see /etc/udev/udev.conf). Maybe a debug log provides more hints what's going wrong. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
