The log from reproducible-builds (with s,unstable,buster,) has:
+could not create jit cache directory
/nonexistent/first-build/.debug/jit/: Permission denied
+could not initialize debugging directory
which is #916393 and a problem of the toolchain, not sparse itself. Is
this the same problem you encountered?
