Package: syslinux Version: 3.11-3 Severity: wishlist Though syslinux is a bootloader for x86, I would really like to see the package become installable on other archs as well. My workstation is non-x86, but I'm often creating x86 boot media - it sucks to have to dig up an x86 machine just to run the syslinux command. And really - the stuff that syslinux is doing isn't arch-specific, only the data its dealing with is.
I visualize a Arch: any package that contains the syslinux command (since this must be native), and an Arch: all package that contains the actual x86 binaries that will be placed on the boot media. Of course, the Arch: all package wouldn't be buildable on all archs, but there's precedent for this in the archive already (systemimager, for one). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: ia64 Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-mckinley Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
