thank you for this suggestion and you are right, upstream looks dead to me. I will check if it makes sense to just switch the source tarball to bump2version and upload it to experimental.

I'll most likely remove the bump2version script entry point if the fork works as a drop-in replacement.

Expect an upload this week.
