Source: xymon Version: 4.3.28-3 Severity: normal Tags: unreproducible Dear Maintainer,
The package currently fails to build reproducibly on a merged-usr vs non-merged system. The build/bb-commands.sh script is generating a list of tools with full path looked up from PATH at build-time. These paths might not be correct for the running system the package is later installed on. I could not find any uses of these variables inside xymon, and that is even documented at: https://sources.debian.org/src/xymon/4.3.28-3/build/bb-commands.sh/#L23 I now wonder if the comment there is true and if there's any use to define these at all. I only found 'hobbit-plugins' package as something to look at for what could possibly be the consumer of these defined variables according to the code comment above. However I could not find a single use of any of the defined variables. My question is thus, can we simply disable build/bb-commands.sh in the build (and thus not including the variables and full paths that causes reproducible build issues) ? Either way, it the reproducability problem is just that and not a bigger issue that might cause actual breakage. Regards, Andreas Henriksson
