Package: espeakup Version: 1:0.80-12 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
espeakup is working fine in a tty with its default english voice and also with others, like the spanish one. The problem arise when I try to use an Mbrola voice, where I can hear the voice for less than a second, so you can't hear a full sentence. I'm testing with "VOICE=mb-es1" in /etc/default/espeakup. I have also tested by stopping the daemon and starting it manually with "espeakup -V mb-es1", but the problem persist. Mbrola voices are installed (mbrola and mbrola-es1 packages) and working fine with espeak: espeak -v mb-es1 "Hola mundo" I have built the sources from https://github.com/williamh/espeakup and it work fine, I mean, I could hear the voice for more than a second, so I could hear a full sentence from a tty. It was tested as: ./espeakup -V mb-es1 So, there might be some differences with the upstream sources. -- Oscar Iturra -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.18.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages espeakup depends on: ii espeak 1.48.04+dfsg-7 ii libc6 2.27-8 ii libespeak-ng1 1.49.2+dfsg-8 ii lsb-base 9.20170808 espeakup recommends no packages. espeakup suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/espeakup changed: VOICE=mb-es1 -- no debconf information
