I'm not able to reproduce it in experimental (gitlab 11.2.8). Try restarting gitaly and gitlab services and run the check manually. In salsa, I have added gitlab-rake command (which should be available from next upload), which makes this as easy as a command "gitlab-rake gitlab:check".
