I looked into this. It is caused by upstream's removal of the gtk2 window button implementation around version 64, which is why only stretch is affected. It still uses gtk2. For anyone interested in this, I am willing to accept a forward port of upstream's old implementation. However, this isn't something I'll be looking into myself.
