You are right that the way you say (upload to unstable / ask binNMUs) would
be the fast track to success.
But within the Crosswire packaging team, I was asked to do this one through
an auto transition.

And that route is a bit longer.
But it plays by the book. And I already botched my DD application by not
following the rules.
So while I agree with you about the faster way to do this, I can't afford
to not follow the book this time :)
