maybe a ran into the same or similar issue. Sine iOS 12 and macOS 10.14, the apple calendar apps couldn’t connect to davical anymore without any useful error message. The calendar error log in mojave has shown, that the app couldn’t establish a connection to my davical server (v1.1.1 and v1.1.7) using http. Using https to connect the server works fine. This also solves the problem with iOS 12. I think this behavior is caused by apple and not by davical.

since iOS 12 there is no connection to davical possible. A new installation and configuration of a davical
caldav user is not possible. On iOS 12 the error 'no connection to server' appears.
I insert a calendar entry on macOS 10.13.6 and that entry should appear on the same calendar on iOS 12 but
it is not. On macOS 10.13.6 I can install and configure a davical users calendar.
