Package: emacs24-common Version: 24.5+1-11+deb9u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation? emacs VM was unable to read mail from local spool due to standard permissions; when that was fixed mail was corrupted by spurious lines. It turned out this was because of peculiar behaviour of a 'movemail' binary which appears to be included in the emacs package. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Installed the mailutils package, which brings in a GNU version of movemail and makes it the default. * What was the outcome of this action? Fixed. I think emacs24-x should be dependent on mailutils. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.5 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_GB.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages emacs24-common depends on: ii dpkg 1.18.25 ii emacsen-common 2.0.8 ii install-info 6.3.0.dfsg.1-1+b2 Versions of packages emacs24-common recommends: pn emacs24-el <none> Versions of packages emacs24-common suggests: pn emacs24-common-non-dfsg <none> ii ncurses-term 6.0+20161126-1+deb9u2 -- no debconf information
