Package: lists.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

The company hosting the current speechd mailing list is closing its
services, and we are looking for an alternative, and are wondering about
lists.debian.org.

speechd (Speech Dispatcher) is the standard free software client/server
engine used for managing speech synthesis on Unix, it is notably used
in Debian for the orca screen reader to be able to use various speech
syntheses suited to various languages and needs.

I'd rather avoid company-run mailing list solutions such as googlegroups
or groups.io, and I would also like to inject the existing mailing
list archive which contains a lot of precious past discussions. I have
to say I have a hard time finding solutions. I asked freedesktop, but
since speechd is still driven by the freebsoft company and hosted on
github, freedesktop would rather avoid hosting the mailing list. I tried
freelists.org but didn't get an answer. I could e.g. create a project on
sv.nongnu.org but that's perhaps a lot for just a mailing list? I'm open
to suggestions if it is considered not to be hosted by lists.debian.org
:)

Samuel
