>From the thunar-archive-plugin documention in >/usr/share/doc/thunar-archive-plugin/README The .tap and .desktop files should have the same basename, otherwise the thunar-archive-plugin is not able to find the appropriate .tap file for an archive manager. For now we have : /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.FileRoller.desktop and /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/file-roller.tap and thus archive creation/extraction in file-roller doesn't work. tap filename should be /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/thunar-archive-plugin/org.gnome.FileRoller.tap I've added a symlink file-rolle.tap --> org.gnome.FileRoller.tap and now archive creation is working in thunar.
