Package: kildclient
Version: 3.2.0-2
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

One of the features of KildClient is that, when I hover the mouse
pointer over a line of text in the scrollback buffer for about a second
or so, a small "text balloon" will appear showing information about the
line - most prominently, a timestamp of when it arrived.

Since my most recent restart of KildClient (following a power-loss
reboot, following quite a few package upgrades over the course of weeks
without a client restart), this balloon now disappears after well under
a second, then reappears again after little if any more time than that,
and the pattern repeats - resulting in a "flickering" behavior, in which
the balloon is visible for such a short period that it is difficult if
not impossible to read the contents of the balloon.

What's more, if I have the focus in another window at the time when this
"the balloon disappears" behavior happens, the focus changes to
KildClient. (However, KildClient is not brought to the foreground.)

That latter behavior seems as if it could be conditional on particular
window-manager focus settings. I run e16, currently version 10.0.15.000
(self-compiled), with the setting "focus follows pointer sloppily".

I suspect that this is probably not actually a problem in KildClient,
but in one of the GTK libraries; I think that KildClient is the only
GTK3 program I currently use which has this type of
mouseover-causes-balloon feature. However, as I am not sufficiently
familiar with GTK to even begin narrowing it down, and none of the
existing bug reports against the immediate GTK-related dependency
library (libgtk-3-0) seem related at a quick scan-through, I think it
may be more useful to report the bug where I'm observing it. If the bug
needs to be reassigned elsewhere, I fully approve of that happening. If
a separate bug report (to pick up additional system information) against
a different package is needed, I can do that too, as long as I know
which package and in what terms to couch the report.

If there is anything I can do to help narrow this down and/or resolve
it, please do not hesitate to let me know.
