Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
Control: affects -1 knot-resolver

NOTE: this is just a request for removal of the knot-resolver binary
package on arm64. please do *not* remove the source package or any of
the other binary packages!

the knot-resolver binary fails on arm64 because of a bad interaction
between that platform and the package's use of the embedded LUA
interpreter.

See this bug report in debian: https://bugs.debian.org/907729

and its associated upstream report:
https://gitlab.labs.nic.cz/knot/knot-resolver/issues/216

note that libkres8 *does* work on arm64 -- please don't remove it!

The debian version 3.0.0-3 of knot-resolver is currently in unstable for
arm64, but it doesn't work -- it made it into debian because it wasn't
adequately tested -- more recent versions of the package do better
testing. Version 3.0.0-9 of the package doesn't build a knot-resolver
binary at all. So version 3.0.0-3 should be removed, so that the rest
of the package is capable of migrating into testing.

I've talked this over with upstream, and they're OK with debian dropping
the (non-functional) knot-resolver binary package on the arm64 platform
-- see the upstream link for more details and discussion.

Thanks for your work on debian!

Regards,
