Package: update-notifier Version: 0.41.3-1 Severity: important update-notifier appears to be primarily intended as a gnome package but can run under KDE. /usr/share/doc/update-notifier/README says that this package requires gksu to run and this requirement is not reflected in the package information.
apt-cache show update-notifier does not mention gksu and if you don't have gksu installed (as with probably most KDE systems) then update-notifier displays the icon in the notification area but none of the menu options work.
