This is correct for lynx 2.8.5-2sarge1.

This is mildly strange; I have
$ readlink `which lynx`
/etc/alternatives/lynx

Could you preserve the current lynx files first:

  dpkg -L lynx |{ cd /; xargs tar --no-recursion -uf /tmp/lynx-old.tar; }

And then

  apt-get --reinstall install lynx?
