Dear Maintainer,While the wish for an upstream solution is understandable, we do not live in an ideal world and it would be desireable to take action now.
Could you please carry the ubuntu patch as outlined in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups-pk-helper/+bug/934291
This package does not require much maintenance work anyway so imho it can't be justified to not carry a patch that fixes broken functionality.
