I'm a bit reluctant (as may be deduced from the time it took me to
answer this bugreport ;-) to include this. 
Did you ping upstream to add the patch?
Wouldn't it be smarter to have alsa do that byteswapping?

That question has been asked on jackit-devel but been left unanswered.

sort it out there.
