feel free to purge gnupg2 -- as the description says, "This is a dummy transitional package that provides symlinks from gpg2 to gpg." as for why the packages are broken out as much as they are, please see the lengthy discussion at https://bugs.debian.org/891931 and further references. regards, --dkg
