Package: kernel-package Version: 10.036 Severity: normal The debconf templates inserted in created kernel packages do not completely follow the recommendations given in the Developer's Reference:
-The short description is a sentence which is slightly discouraged (some interfaces use it as a "title" and sentences do not fit well as titles -use of first person: "I repeat...". Several sections of the DR discourage the use of first person with the argument that "the computer is not a person". I usually add that this gives a feeling of non "professionnal" user interaction. A common unwritten rule about user interaction is to keep it as neutral as possible. I suggest rewriting this to: You have to reboot in order for the modules file to be created correctly. Until then, it may be impossible to load some modules so the reboot should take place as soon as this install is finished. This means removing the "I cannot stress that too much" thing. I haven't checked other templates possibly created by the package, but IIRC, I have about the same concerns for them. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-686 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kernel-package depends on: ii dpkg 1.13.16 package maintenance system for Deb ii dpkg-dev 1.13.16 package building tools for Debian ii file 4.15-2 Determines file type using "magic" ii gcc [c-compiler] 4:4.0.2-2 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-3.3 [c-compiler] 1:3.3.6-12 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-4.0 [c-compiler] 4.0.2-10 The GNU C compiler ii gettext 0.14.5-2 GNU Internationalization utilities ii make 3.80+3.81.rc1-1 The GNU version of the "make" util ii perl 5.8.8-2 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii po-debconf 0.9.2 manage translated Debconf template Versions of packages kernel-package recommends: ii bzip2 1.0.3-2 high-quality block-sorting file co ii libc6-dev [libc-dev] 2.3.6-3 GNU C Library: Development Librari -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
