Hi, FYI I went ahead in Ubuntu and it worked fine for me. Also VMWare was so kind to verify this already and it seems good to them as well.
So I wanted to let you know, if you want to take a look you can check out [1] If anything I was slightly unsure on how to exactly build the orig tarball as it seems to be from git and not the tarball you download usually. If the Ubuntu tarball is fine for you, I'd ask you to take this one when doing the merge for Debian so that we end up with same checksums. If the Ubuntu tarball is not ok, I'd be eager to learn the exact steps you'd do to create it as there as no README.source or such to explain it.
