Package: gxine Version: 0.5.4-0.1 Hi there,
thank you very much for gxine, which was a rock solid, versatile, "play it all" and all about nice video player until the last update. There seems to be a multitude of bugs in the current version and I would like to recommend to take 0.4.8 back into testing and test the current version in unstable. I don't really know what the causes of this bug are, but I had segmentation faults, memory errors and whatnot. Among them the already described "settings dialogue on every startup". There were more than 2 different problems when playing NBC Giga from Germany at this address: mms://giga.streamed.by.ngz-server.de.esl-tv.net/GIGA This stream used to work fine in the old version. Now gxine crashes with different results. Either it eats up 100% CPU time and just stalls or it crashes and exits. One more example would be that the screen goes dark every time you adjusts the volume with the mouse. The video continues to run with sound. Once you resize the window the video comes back. Often times gxine does not "find an audio device" when alsa is fine and no other app is complaining. If you don't plan on uploading the old version please tell me where I can get it.
