Package: uuid
Followup-For: Bug #881000

Hello,

I was reading your bugreport about uuid, and wondered if it wasn't simply that you didn't notice that in your example, the MAC address was actually used and was at the end of the UUID, as expected.

If so, then please close this bug report as this is the expected behavior AFAIK. If you do the following command many times, you will notice that the end of the UUID is always indeed a MAC address and not a random value:

$ uuid -v 1

Now, if the MAC address at the end of the UUID isn't the same as any of your network interface, then there would indeed be a problem.

I can't check as you didn't provide the output of /sbin/ifconfig, and also didn't also provide the UUID you expected to see, but I doubt that there is any bug here and that you simply misunderstood something.

Have a nice day,

Simon Valiquette
