I reinstalled the 4.16 kernel to confirm that munged starts normally under 4.16 with the default systemd timeout. It does.
But now I'm no longer able to reproduce the problem when running the 4.17 kernel. I dunno. Has anyone else seen the munged timeout failures? I'll update as I learn more.
