Package: dbus Version: 1.10.26-0+deb9u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? After `apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade` system will not boot properly. service dbus is never started, fails to boot to anything but recovery mode. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Booted to recovery mode via grub. Discovered problem, no /var/run/dbus directory and thus no socket in that directory. Manually started with `service dbus start`, checked for existence of /var/run/dbus and it is there now. Continued boot from this point with 'systemctl default' and system completed boot including oging ot SDDM display manager login screen. * What was the outcome of this action? System is now usable if booted from Recovery mode and then continued to "default" runlevels. * What outcome did you expect instead? I expected the system to boot normally without having to start dbus manually from Recovery mode. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.5 APT prefers stable APT policy: (1000, 'stable'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-6-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages dbus depends on: ii adduser 3.115 ii init-system-helpers 1.48 ii libapparmor1 2.11.0-3+deb9u2 ii libaudit1 1:2.6.7-2 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u3 ii libcap-ng0 0.7.7-3+b1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.10.26-0+deb9u1 ii libexpat1 2.2.0-2+deb9u1 ii libselinux1 2.6-3+b3 ii libsystemd0 232-25+deb9u4 ii lsb-base 9.20161125 dbus recommends no packages.
