I am experiencing the same issue. Fwiw the workaround listed in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1353953 (for a similar problem) allows me to start gnome-terminal in a shell: DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS="" eval `dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session`
