unfortunately my current version of Abiword (2.4.1) does not include this option in the UI any more... talking to people on #abiword, the fix turned out to be adding a line EnableSmoothScrolling="0" to .AbiSuite/AbiWord.Profile (for me that is line 46 - in the _custom_ Scheme below the Scheme named _builtin_) seems the upstream issue is http://bugzilla.abisource.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9923 which even contains a patch to disable Smooth Scrolling as default - which I think Debian should do until the issue is solved, as it's really a showstopper! Alternatively, please do at least add a reference to it in the Readme.Debian, as the solution is less than obvious... Florian
