since the upgrade from 18.0.5-1 to 18.1.1-1 of the various mesa packages, xfwm4 with compositing enabling only display a white screen. The cursor is shown on top, but no window appears. When restarting xfwm4 I can briefly see the windows, then the white screen. Disabling compositing in xfwm4 workarounds the problem but then you lose all compositing-related features. The platform is a ThinkPad X250 with Intel graphics (HD Graphics 5500 I thinks, CPU generation is Broadwell) If you need more information, please ask.
