Then you should be using /var/tmp which does *not* get deleted on upgrades. "Advanced" users should be well aware of this. As for the other issue (init script being replaced on upgrade) you should have filed a different bug, please do not submit two bugs in one, that leads to confusion. IMO, initscripts should not provide a way for users to say "don't delete /tmp on startup" if you want to store temporary stuff in a semi-permanent way you should be using /var/tmp. Regards Javier
