Package: fish
Version: 1.20.2-1
Severity: important

when running the command
  cat | grep "x$"
in fish it dies with the error
  *** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x080be850 ***
  fish: Job 0, 'fish' terminated by signal SIGABRT (Abort)

this is annoying because it usually closes the terminal window and
looses the command history.

running the command
  grep "x$"
without the pipe gives the right error message
  fish: Did you mean (COMMAND)? In fish, the '$' character is only used
  for accessing variables. [...]
