If you use --pager=less and make syntax in error in the regexp, your
terminal is left in a bad state (with echo disabled among others):
$ ag --pager=less +; echo '----'; stty
ERR: Bad regex! pcre_compile() failed at position 0: nothing to repeat
If you meant to search for a literal string, run ag with -Q
