I ran libtoolize in the curl project and shipped that ltmain.sh in a tarball when I relased curl 7.60.0 a few days ago. That ltmain.sh script assumes IFS behaviors that seems to not work on at least AIX's default shell. See https://github.com/curl/curl/issues/2611 for the curl issue and additional details. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I ran libtoolize with libtool 2.4.6 Debian-2.4.6-2.1 Notably, the ltmain.sh script as generated by the previous version (2.4.6 Debian-2.4.6-2) works. * What was the outcome of this action? A library cannot be built with this libtool version on at least AIX 6.1. I would presume the problem is wider but I haven't confirmed that. * What outcome did you expect instead?
