To add insult to injury, the Debian-packaged version 0.4.3-2 misreports as "0.4.4", when using the Lua-internal _VERSION variable (file /usr/share/lua/5.1/luaevent.lua):
_M._VERSION = "0.4.4"
This makes it impossible to detect the problem and warn the user in a
portable way.
