Even if you seems to have found a workaround, there is something
weird. I will have a closer look at it this week-end.


You may try to add some configuration commands to help po4a. For example,
If you're always using \item followed by a block, adding:
    % po4a: command *item {_}
at the beginning of the document may help.

(This overrrides the definition of the item command for po4a, and tells
po4a that \item is always followed by an argument, which is translatable,
see man Locale::Po4a::TeX for more details).

There is something definitly wrong anyway. Thanks for noticing it.
