Hello Martin,
What is your version of Debian? What installed add-ons do you have?
I don't have the issue you describe with Firefox ESR on Debian 8 "Jessie".
Firefox developers think also to user of Windows and Mac and you could
install add-ons outside of the Debian repository so the check shouldn't
be an issue if it works properly.

This goes on until I click on "Cancel", and then everything is
fine, no matter how much time I wait before clicking the

Not a big deal, but still a little bit annoying and confusing.
Why does Firefox check things, that are hopefully already done
by dpkg? I don't have non-Debian plugins installed.
