Hi, I still have this problem with gnome-desktop 2.8.3 (sarge 3.1). Other items in the popup menu do seem to work, like "Open Terminal". The following message appears in my .xsession-errors file when I attempt to "Create Launcher": gnome-desktop-item-edit: file:///home/cgreco/Desktop doesn't seem like a desktop item This problem may be related to the window manager that I'm using - sawfish. I haven't attempted to change to another window manager.
