Same Thunderbird regression on Firefox. I'm not sure the policy authorize us to migrate an application from GTK2 to GTK3 on a stable release.
IMO, until GTK2 is available from the Mozilla compilation file, we should provide Firefox ESR compiled with GTK2 on Jessie.
