thanks for all the clear thinking and detail and nuance explaining the
potential gotchas around implementing my wishlist feature request :)
I think the caveats y'all have raised are reasonable to think about, and
would be happy with any of the proposed resolutions. This is not a
particularly urgent feature request for me, so if it sits in a
justifiably low-priority queue for a while i won't complain, i just
wanted to document a desired feature and spur discussion about what such
an implementation might need to care about, so that potential future
implementers have a roadmap to work from.
