This will result in wide spread breakage when apt starts to upgrade all previous 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 installs into this 1:10.1 version as I explained in my first mail. I tried my best to be very elaborate in the first mail.
maybe I am missing something, but you have a source package mariadb-10.1, a -10.2 and a -10.3 which all build binary packages with the respective version in it. Why should a -10.2 be upgraded to 1:10.1.* of -10.1? So only -10.1 is affected, which is EOL in two years. Sure, it is annoying, but it is not the end of the world!? And if you add the version to the plugins as well, you will get even less problems. btw. is it ok to run a -10.1 with plugins from -10.3?
Thorsten ps. the description of mariadb-client still refers to -10.0
