As Julian in #d-d on IRC already mentioned nobody is actively looking at the cronjob(s); especially on the still more obscure additional features it has. Ideal would probably be if we could get these scripts to be covered by a few tests (see tests/integration) as one of the reasons nobody touches it is probably that if you don't use them yourself it is hard to check if its working. Any kind of test will greatly increase my willingness (and probably of others, too) to merge a proposed patch.
