Bug #302111 suggests abandoning the use of the tabultated ISO-3166 file from iso-codes to build the list of countries.
The localechooser build script should rather use the /usr/share/xml/iso-codes/iso_3166.xml file and extract countrycodes and country names from it. This needs a rewrite of the countrylist Perl script by someone who has some basic knowledge of Perl and XML files handling with Perl. I am *not* that person. Could someone jump in ? This would allow the iso-codes package maintainer to abandon the generation of iso_3166.tab, actually --
