Package: vim-puppet Version: 3.8.5-2 Severity: normal Hello,
The vim-puppet package has no package above debian jessie. I can understand why that happened: the puppetlabs vim plugin has not been maintained for so long! There is however an alternative that's available: https://github.com/rodjek/vim-puppet After discussing this with puppet package maintainers in december 2016, I was told that it didn't support puppet 4 syntax. So I opened issues and pull requests in order to have that implemented in rodjek's plugin, and the changes were merged in. So the plugin now has at least syntax hilighting for parameter types. A handful of other bugs were also corrected since the discussion. It would be great to have a vim-puppet package again with code that's a bit newer and still maintained. I've been using rodjek's syntax hilighting on my laptop for a bit more than a year now (e.g. since the above-mentioned thread) (ps. I don't recall why I have a version of the vim-puppet package installed that's more recent than the one in jessie.. but it shouldn't matter for the current suggestion) -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.13.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_CA.utf8), LANGUAGE=en_CA.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_CA.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) vim-puppet depends on no packages.
